FXB International -- Association François-Xavier Bagnoud

Delivering Sustainable Results for Children Affected by Poverty and AIDS.
The mission of FXB is to fight poverty and AIDS, and support the world's orphans and vulnerable children left in the wake of the pandemic by advocating for their needs and basic rights and providing direct support to families and communities that care for them.

Investing in Families. Saving Children.
For 20 years, FXB has worked with the conviction that the best solution for helping these children is to strengthen the social and economic capacities of their families and communities. When empowered with the right tools and resources, caregivers are able to protect, care for, and raise the orphans and vulnerable children in their extended families and community.

FXB carries the name of François-Xavier Bagnoud, a helicopter pilot specialized in rescue operations, who dedicated his life to providing assistance to others. He lost his life at the age of 24 during a helicopter-borne mission in Mali. In 1989, his mother Albina du Boisrouvray, his family, and their friends founded the Association François-Xavier Bagnoud (FXB) in order to pursue, in the field of development, the values of generosity and compassion that guided his life.

FXB Country Programs

Founded in 1989, FXB is present in 18 countries and operates around 100 programs, including 47 FXB-Villages. Our team of over 450 employees and 1,400 volunteers is committed to delivering lasting solutions for children orphaned and made vulnerable by AIDS.

FXB's programs are founded on the belief that the best way to care for these children is to address the root causes of human insecurity, and to develop solutions that are tailored to the specific cultural, political, and economic contexts of those most in need. FXB's programs are as diverse as the people they serve to ensure that local needs are met and that children are thriving.

Present in Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe, FXB's programs and services include:

  • Reintegration of AIDS orphans within foster families
  • School enrollment for primary and secondary school students
  • Vocational training in professional and marketable skills
  • Development of income-generating activities
  • Financial training in savings and micro-credit
  • HIV prevention and education, and the promotion of healthy lifestyles
  • Medical care and access to antiretroviral therapy
  • Nutritional support and education
  • Psychosocial counseling
  • Legal support and the protection of children's rights
  • FXB Houses for vulnerable children and orphans
  • Building homes and the relocation of vulnerable families
  • Construction and renovation of schools
  • Creating sources of potable water and improved sanitation systems
  • Environmental management
  • Palliative care

The FXB-Village program is a sustainable and community-based solution to poverty and AIDS. Each FXB-Village brings improvements in health, education, and economic opportunity to children and families in need.

We don't provide charity. Instead, we equip individuals with the training and resources so they can achieve lasting self-sufficiency and stability.

FXB currently operates 47 FXB-Villages with 3 in Burundi, 1 in China, 1 in the DRC, 5 in India, 21 in Rwanda, 4 in Thailand and 12 in Uganda.
