Christa Douaihy, Esq. Christa Douaihy is a staff attorney with the Civil Action Practice at The Bronx Defenders (BxD) in the Bronx, N.Y. She is admitted to practice law in New York Courts and the Southern District of New York, U.S. District Court. She is also a member of the New York City Bar Association's Special Committee on AIDS. Christa has proven expertise regarding issues affecting veterans, disability rights and civil rights of persons living with HIV/AIDS. Before BxD, Christa was a staff attorney with the Disability Rights Unit at Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in Westchester County, N.Y. From 2006 to late 2008 she held the position of legal intern/advocate at Gay Men's Health Crisis, where she represented persons living with HIV/AIDS in advocacy efforts and immigration applications, including asylum petitions. Recently, Christa served on the Tri-County Steering Committee of the Ryan White Comprehensive AIDS Resources Emergency (CARE) Act, responsible for intra-regional administration of congressionally appropriated funds for Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam counties. In 2008, Christa attained certification as a mediator of civil disputes. And in 2011, she received accreditation from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to represent veterans in their legal affairs. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Pittsburgh and her Juris Doctorate at The City University of New York School of Law.
