Will my body build up an immunity to mulluscum? If so, how long? If not, will it ever go away? Is it very common to have on the penis area? Contagious?
Molluscum on the penis or genital area are common. They are very infectious, so warn your sexual partners to get checked and use caution and safer sex until they are gone.
If you have a healthy immune system (say, CD4's over 400) molluscum will usually (but not always) clear within 6 to 12 months on their own. If you have low T cells, they can be a real problem.
There are a variety of ways to treat them, no one treatment is perfect. The lesions can be curretted (a form of deep scraping), treated with liquid nitrogen, or treated with condylox or aldera. Talk with your doctor about treatment.
