Hello Doctor David...Me and my wife we are both HIV positive. We have unprotected sex everyday but we take different medications I take Stribild and my Wife takes Truvada and Atripla.....is okay having unprotected sex or it will ruin or change the effects of our medications and may no longer work our medications? Waiting For Your Reply.....Many Thanks... Regards Hinako
Thank you for writing. The most important aspect to consider is that you both maintain your viral load at undetectable. If you both are undetectable then the chance of creating any complications for your partner are basically zero. The fact that you are each taking different medications should not be a factor.
Be certain to maintain open communication with your healthcare provider(s) about your relationship, including your sexual habits, as well as your medications.
Best wishes, David
