Hi There and thanks for all of your help. Youve answered a few of my questions in the past.
Over the past 10 years since i learned I was infected, I am generally undetectable. Last January 2018 I had a spike in viral load because I was sick with a cold.
This week my results came back and my viral load is 400. I did notice earlier in the week I had night sweats around my collar bone, and that i had a very scratchy throat. I have long been prone to throat infections even prior to becoming infected with HIV. Could a leap from undetectable to 400 viral load be attributable to having been tested when I was sick?
Also I was infected with syphillis a while ago and my titier always hovered around 1:8 after treatment. The results this week were a titier of 1:2. Is this an increase or decrease?
Yes, an acute infectious illness could result in an increase in HIV viral load like that. Regarding syphilis infection, That would be considered a decrease in titer. In general, we look for a 4-fold decrease or greater in titer to indicate that treatment was successful. However, the titer can remain positive for months to years after successful treatment.
