In May 2016 I tested positive with an initial viral load of 87, I was tested again 3 weeks later with a viral load of 61. Mu dr said this is unusual for a count this low. My Dr put on on Descovy and Tivicay a few weeks after that. I had the genotype test done 3 times, with no results becase there was not enough of the virus. Since those first 2 tests I have been undetectable, CD4 count has never been lower than 950. I started getting sloppy taking my meds and would miss more than i would take. My Dr said it would be better to not take them at all instead of missing most, but said i really should take them every day. I signed up for a hiv study and took the rapid hiv test. The test came back negative. I ended up stopping my meds 4 months ago. I had my usual check up test and my CD4 is 1204 and Viral load is undetectable. How is this possible? The only other thing about my tests is the cd8 cells have always been 200 to 400 higher than normal.
You don't indicate what the results of screening and confirmatory antibody test results were when those detectable HIV viral load results were obtained. In addition, when was HIV treatment started in relation to possible infection? Seroreversion, meaning positive to negative HIV antibody test results has been described in a few people who started HIV treatment very early after infection. Also, depending on one's immune system and how well they can control HIV infection in the absence of HIV treatment, there is also a subset of people who are infected and have undetectable HIV viral loads without taking HIV meds. Additional testing to sort this out might be indicated. I suggest you discuss these results with your doctor or an infectious disease specialist.
