Hello doctor. Yesterday I went to a Ktv Club at geylang. One of the ktv girl has accidentally used a toothpick which she have used and poked me with it. I was bleeding a little after the toothpick has poked me and the poke has left me with a small bleeding hole. And I had used my hands which has come into contact with her vaginal fluid and even some of her blood from fingering her to wipe my bleeding wound caused by the toothpick.
So I would like to ask am I at risk of hiv or std if the toothpick happens to have her blood on it as she has used it and also she has bleeding gums. In addition, also my hands which has her infected blood and vaginal fluid and wiped the blood away from my wound would I be infected with hiv or std? Thank you doctor.
Thanks for your question,
But it doesn't sound like you were at risk for HIV. For HIV to transmit, a significant amount of body fluid carrying HIV needs to come out of someone's body and go immediately/directly inside the body of another person.
In your case we're talking about the presence of blood from her mouth being unlikely. On top of that it would've been a VERY small amount. Even if you had vaginal fluid/blood on your finger when you wiped your "wound," it is also really unlikely that it got inside you. Blood is coming out at that point.
Hope this helps,
