I contracted syphilis mid last year, came up on the test with a high titer level. My doctor prescribed demoxicilin(?) And the titer level did drop a lot with my 2nd test 6 months later. My doctor gave me the penicillin shot after the 2nd test to make the titer drop more.
My question, how do you know if you're still infectious and can pass a long to someone else? My last two tests came back with a 1:1 titer but still reading positive.
The test will remain positive for months to years after successful treatment. If the correct amount of penicillin was prescribed, then one is no longer infectious.
