currently taking Reyataz Norvir Epzicon. Doing well on these.
Started seeing a new doctor and he has recommended that I abandon Reyataz Norvir Epzicon and start taking a single dose of Triumeg. My question: If I start taking Triumeg, will I be able to return to the Reyataz Norvir Epzicon regime?
Hello and thanks for posting.
If your virus doesn't have any drug resistance, then switching from a suppressive regimen to a DHHS-recommended initial regimen (like the proposed Triumeq [abacavir/lamivudine/dolutegravir]) can be done without significant concerns.
Essentially, the proposed treatment switch swaps the boosted PI ritonavir/atazanavir (once a DHHS-recommended initial regimen component) for a more up-to-date, recommended component, dolutegravir. The later lacks the food requirement and many drug-drug interactions of the former.
To your question, yes, if you should have an unanticipated difficulty with the Triumea, and provided that your virus remains suppressed, you can return to your previously proven regimen.
I hope that this is helpful.
