OK so I was in Africa during the summer where I engaged in unprotected fellatio and protected vaginal with a prostitute who I later found out she was +. 7 weeks later I had the flu like symptoms. So I tested with the Home Access HIV â1â test which was Negative 4 months post exposure. Apparently Iâm clear from HIV 1 but not HIV 2. So I tested with Oraquick in Home which was also negative at 4 months and I read that it looks for antibodies for both HIV1 and 2. Should get a blood test for HIV 2? I have this persistent headache.
You did everything right in your experience by using protection. As for testing your history is showing that you are HIV free from that experience.
The testing guidelines for HIV are to be initially tested at 3 weeks post exposure and then again at 90 days. As long as there are no other exposures happened during this time frame than the results are conclusive. This includes both HIV 1 and 2.
Be well and stay safe, Shannon
