Thank you once again for answering my questions. His last resistance test a couple years ago showed that he was resistance to most families of drugs, that's why the selzentry was brought in. At this time, there is no other regimen available to him. His PTSD is so severe from being molested, that he is tormented constantly. He's not forgetful and doesn't have cognitive issues at all, so when the word dementia was mentioned, I'm not sure he falls in that category. I think his psychiatric meds have stopped working and hope that's where the problem is coming in. I'm not sure I want to put him through a spinal tap at this time. We are out of options with the psych. drugs too, but I'm hoping a dose change may be the answer. Thank you so much for taking an interest in us.
From that further data you provided describing that frustrating situation it seems most likely that the HIV Medications themselves would be unlikely to be directly causing the cognitive problems. The other problems/issues described as well as HIV infection per se can contribute to dementia like problems. I completely understand your feelings about the situation-I cant offer any easy answers.
