Queer rapper, poet and artist Mykki Blanco took to his Facebook page on Friday night to reveal that he has been living with HIV since 2011, or as he put it, "my entire career." Blanco is a genderqueer artist whose name is a reference to Lil Kim's alter ego, Kimmy Blanco. "No more living a lie. HAPPY PRIDE," Blanco wrote in the comments section underneath the initial post. "The music industry ain't gonna like I admitted this so if a curator could help me move more into the art world that would be awesome."

Blanco released his first mixtape, Cosmic Angel: The Illuminati Prince/ss, in 2012. He has since released a handful of EPs and mixtapes and will release his first studio album, Michael, in 2015.

The rapper later took to Twitter to expound on his HIV-positive status reveal.
