Penicilin Shot for Syphilis - Presumptive treatment

Question

I had an exposure where my partner was tested positive for syphilis a day after our exposure. Approximately 7 days after, I went for a syphilis test at a clinic and was tested negative. Despite so, I requested and was given a penicilin shot, in anticipating the scenario that I have contracted syphilis and the antibodies yet to be developed. My question now is that would i still be tested positive for syphilis in light of this preemptive treatment? Would this early penicillin shot eradicate the bacteria even before the body starts to develop the antibodies?

Answer

It is possible that early treatment could abort syphilis infection and that your test would not turn reactive.
