I'm a college-aged male and had my first sexual encounter this past weekend. I did not know my partner, as had just met her that night, and so have no way of knowing whether she has HIV.
We had protected vaginal sex, though I did not ejaculate, after which I received unprotected oral sex.
I have become somewhat paranoid over this incident, and it's been on my mind almost nonstop for the past few days. I know that I had a small pimple/unopen scab under my pubic hair at the time of this encounter. Is it possible 1) that the vaginal fluid could have somehow passed through this pimple/unopened scab and infected me with HIV, and/or 2) that this small scab was open without my noticing?
Do you think I could have become infected with HIV from this encounter??? I know it's too early to get tested, but I'm really freaking out about it all the same. Your words would be much appreciated!
Thanks for your question,
The only thing from this situation that sounds risk for HIV is the unprotected oral sex. And that's very low risk for HIV. It can be higher risk for other STDs though.
As a newly sexually active person, there's a few things you can do to help manage your sexual health. Talking with your partners about HIV/STD status before sex, carrying condoms, understanding the ways that various STDs are spread are all ways to help you prepare to talk care of your health.
Take care in the fact that your HIV risk was low. Make sure to get tested regularly so you know your status for HIV and STDs.
Hope this helps,
