Hi Doc, Would you care to speculate if it takes more, or less than a medium drop of blood or blood product contaminated with the HIV virus to sucessfully transfer this disease to another person in the open air on an inanimate object?
Hi. Thank you for your question.
Nobody can answer a question such as this one. All anybody can say is the more blood one is exposed to, the greater the risk of infection. Also, the virus must get directly into the bloodstream from one person to another within minutes. But there is no such thing as a minimum required amount of blood necessary for infection to occur. Again, the more blood one is exposed to, the greater the risk of HIV and other bloodborne diseases.
