So, my boyfriend started feeling sick last year (2014). He has been experiencing digestive problems, skin rashes, anxiety attacks, orange urine, pains in the abdomen, neck and under the arm, dry scalp, constant sore throat and other symptoms. He had an HIV test done in August (2014) and it came back negative. We've had unprotected sex multiple times since he has fallen ill, last time being in October (2014). I got tested in December (2014) and it came back negative. He is still experiencing his illness and he is convinced he has HIV even though we both tested negative. He got a tattoo shaded in at the start of 2014. How long does it take for HIV antibodies to be detected and if it's not HIV what can it possibly be? As long as he thinks it's HIV he refuses to go to the doctor and is only willing to go once it is not.
Thanks for your question,
As long as your boyfriend got tested for HIV 3 months after the last time he had condomless sex with a possibly HIV positive person, then his negative status is certain!
As for what he does have, the only way to figure out is to have a serious conversation with his doctor.
If he's unwilling to see his doctor, then getting down to the bottom of that resistance is important. Basically he really really needs to go to the doctor.
Hope this helps,
