Question
I recently got my nipples pierced, and my co workers mentioned that it is easy to catch hiv or hepatitis from needles and I can't remember if the piercer had gloves on, I remember him opening a new needle package, but I was so nervous I closed my eyes. The place I went to was popular and he's been doing this for 30 years, I am so afraid I caught something because I don't think he wore gloves during the process. How high is my chance from transmitting something without gloves, even with clean needles?
Answer
Thanks for your question,
There's no risk for HIV in what you're talking about. HIV transmission is all about whether the needle is new. Which in your case it was! The glove part doesn't matter.
Hope this helps,
