manual labor all day--hiv effects

Question

DR. what are the risks of working outside for 8-12 hours a day just after being infected(i.e. a few weeks), in terms of immune system damage and therefore HIV taking hold. It seems that it would have negative effects if it is overly taxing work. Could there be any good aspects of working this long and hard if well hydrated and eating/sleeping well? In short, should I find another job? Thank you, keep up the good work. Jim

Answer

There's not direct risk of working outside and HIV disease, per se.

I wouldn't see how working outside would necessarily interfere with your ability to being well hydrated or eating or sleeping an adequate amount, unless your work environment was inadequate, itself.

Either way, within reason, working shouldn't cause any significant negative effects on your immune system. -BY
