Can KS heal itself? Also, is KS usually accompanied by pus?
KS typically does NOT go away by itself. If however a patient is started on HIV medications, then KS can slowly resolve. Although the HIV medications are not directly shrinking the KS, the HIV medications do help restore the immune system, which in turn keeps the KS in check. KS is typically NOT accompanied by pus. HOWEVER, if the KS lesion gets infected, then pus can develop. I've seen this happen to KS lesions, which are in places that frequently get infected (e.g. around the butt, between the toes, in the arm pit, and so on)
