Do hospitals/doctors do tests on patients for emergency surgery or any type of heart surgery/angioplasty?
If you are asking if HIV tests are routinely done without the patient's knowledge or consent prior to emergency surgery, the answer would be no. I do wonder, however, why you would ask. Certainly it behooves everyone to know their HIV status, particularly if knowing would affect medical decision making (for instance, drug-drug interactions with antiretrovirals plus any new medicaments that might be added to a patient's regimen). HIV status certainly should not be kept secret from health care professionals.
