Question

Hi, I am curently taking Efavirenz and abacavir + 3TC and I am trying to loose weight. I was suggested by a friend to take a fat burner (Nite-Burn) from BPI sports containing:

Vitamin D3 (as cholecalciferol) 1,200 IU 300%

NIGHTTIME WEIGHT MANAGEMENT BLEND (Proprietary) 640mg
Raspberry ketone (Rubus idaeus) (fruit) (**DV), White kidney bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) (seed) (**DV), Green coffee bean (Coffea) (seed) (chlorogenic acids) (**DV), Dandelion (Taraxacum) (flower) (**DV), L-Tryptophan (**DV), Saffron (Crocus salivus) (flower) (safranal) (**DV), Melatonin (**DV), Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) (leaves) (**DV). ** Daily Value not established.

Other Ingredients: Gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, stearic acid, magnesium stearate, silica, FD&C Blue No. 1, and titanium dioxide.

I want to ask you kindly if any of these components interact with my hiv treatment.

Thanks in advance for your help

Answer

There is no specific data regarding interactions between that product and your HIV regimen. I would not expect there to be a major problem-would separate dosing by at least several hours and inform your HIV provider about the supplement you are taking. I could find no data published in a reputable peer reviewed journal that the product you are using is safely effective at significantly reducing body fat. KH
