What would approximate life expectancy be if a patient has 5,300 copies per ml virus load and 3.72 log copies, not taking antivirals, Recently had a bout with pneumonia but asymptomatic at this time. He is 51 years old and has no other major health issues but does require assistant with care. I would greatly appreciate an estimated amount of time so that I can be aware of the care needed in his future. Thank you!
The life expectancy for a person with HIV depends on a number of variables including most importantly CD4 count. In general life expectancy is maximized (can approach that of HIV- population) when CD4 count > 500 and px is on treatment with HIV RNA level undetectable. KH
