I've read some articles stating lifting weights weakens the immune system and only moderate exercise such as light walking is beneficial for the immune system.
Is this all true?
Does this now pose a problem for a hiv postive person who is lifting weights that his or her immune system will be further compromised?
No, what you read is not true. Regular exercise, including weight lifting, is actually recommended for all HIVers (and non-HIVers) for three reasons:
It decreased stress and improves general health (including immune health).
The exercise endorphins make us feel great.
Working out makes us look better naked.
So, no worries mate! Get back to the gym and I'll spot you on the bench press, OK?
