Been on Complera for 6+ years and always been undetectable. Switched to Odefsey by doctor's recommendations based on fewer side effects. Started Odefsey 05/18. Since then I have had 4 viral load spikes to ~200-300 followed by a re-test with Undetectable results. CD4 counts stay around 650-690 all the time and percentage is 38.9. Interestingly after switching to Odefsey HDL level for elevated to ~140
What is happening?
The only difference between Complera and Odefsey is the type of tenofovir present. The other two HIV meds are the same. Thus, there should be no real difference in lipid levels like HDL. An HDL level of 140 seems wildly out of range, and likely an error. Hard also to know what happened with those viral load blips after switching. The best time to switch regimens is when you are undetectable, and we rarely see any failure with the subsequent regimen, provided no underlying resistance to the new regimen is present. That also appears unlikely here since you are now undetectable again.
