I just got my cd4 result n is 154 I will be taking antibiotics by today and worst I'm diabetic with high blood and high cholesterol. Am I going to die very soon. How am I going to go through with it.
Hello and thanks for posting.
You needn't die soon. While your CD4 count is low and is at an AIDS-defining level, with current HIV medications, adherence and a tiny bit of good luck, your immune health should soon begin to return. Indeed, overall life expectancy for people living with HIV is at- or approaching normal; this is particularly true for people who get tested, into care, and on treatment.
The antibiotics you're taking are meant to prevent certain types of common AIDS-related infections, most often Pneumocystis. You should be screened for tuberculosis (TB), and ask if you should also be taking medication to prevent TB.
It's recommended that nearly all people living with HIV start antiretroviral therapy as soon as possible following diagnosis, and hopefully this will be the case for you too.
Having diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol adds to the urgency of getting the HIV under control, and also speaks to the importance of receiving good primary medical care than can address these medical conditions too.
I hope that this is helpful, and wish you good health.
