AIDS and it's relation to eye disease ie: glaucoma

Question

Does AIDS or HIV affect the retinal nerve or is it in any way related to glaucoma? Also, does using methamphetamines on a regular basis while HIV positive increase the likelihood of glaucoma (if it is not a complication of AIDS)? This person is currently not undergoing any kind of intervention or treatment. Thank you :)

Answer

HIV has nothing to do with glaucoma, which is increased pressure in the eye that can cause loss of vision. I am not aware that amphetamines increase the chance of developing glaucoma -- they have activities similar to drugs that are used for treating glaucoma.
