I was recently diagnosed with HIV and was just placed on medications. I am on the Dolutegravir (Tivicay). I was told not to take herbal supplements "like" St. John's Wort or Echinecea. I have done lots of research and cannot find a problem with other herbal supplements besides those two. My question is can I use the Advocare system, being a herbal based weight control program, on mine or other HIV medications?
This is what their website says:
Vitamin C (as ascorbic acid), Thiamine (as thiamine HCL), Riboflavin, Niacin (as niacinamide and niacin), Vitamin B-6 (as pyridoxine HCL), Folic acid, Vitamin B-12 (as cyanocobalamin), Biotin, Pantothenic acid (as calcium pantothenate), Zinc (as zinc monomethionine OptiZinc symbol), Inositol, Taurine, System 343 Herbal Concentrate (cranberry fruit juice powder, extracts of burdock root, Silymarin (from milk thistle leaf), senna leaf, astragalus root, schisandra fruit; beet root powder; odorless garlic bulb powder), Dicalcium phosphate, state acid, microcrystalline cellulose, croscarmellose sodium, magnesium state, silicon dioxide, hydroxypropyl cellulose, aqueous coating (consisting of hypromellose, maltodextrin, polyethylene glycol, sodium carboxymethylcellulose, dextrin, dextrose, medium chain triglycerides, sodium citrate).
In Herbal Cleanse caplet :
Senna extract, cranberry juice powder, burdock extract, astragalus extract, milk thistle extract, schisandra extract, beet root powder, odorless garlic bulb powder.
In ProBiotic Restore :
Probiotic Culture: Lactobacillus rhamnosus, Lactobacillus acidophilus, Lactococcus lactis ssp. Lactis, Bifidobacterium bifidum, Bifidobacterium longum, Lactobacillus delbrueckii ssp. Bulgaricus and Streptococcus thermophilus, fructooligosaccharides.
Probiotic Culture formulated by Nicar Laboratories, Inc.
In AdvoCare® Fiber :
Fiber blend, both soluble and insoluble, including: gum acacia, guar gum, cellulose, oat bran, fruit pectins and psyllium seed
From what I see, it is a laxative+vitamins+probiotics program. There is not such a thing as a "cleansing" program that works, specially if it also claims to help with weight loss.
There's no such thing as 'detoxing'.
Also, the formula has calcium and magnesium, two minerals that can interfere with dolutegravir absorption.
Dolutegravir (Tivicay) and Calcium, Magnesium
I would save my money and not use this scam.
