Derek Jackson, From Faeries Series #1, 2002
"From Faeries Series #1," 2002
Derek Jackson
mixed media on redwood stump, 12" x 12"

From the artist: "Faeries are notorious shape-shifters, tricksters, seducers," says Jackson. "With glitter skin glowing on their foreheads and diadems of pastel and Sharpie, they wait where revelation favors those who look for it." Jackson's "The Faeries" series includes paintings on scavenged redwood, found fabrics and textiles.

Why we chose this piece: We were drawn to "From the Faeries" because of the unusual medium that was used to create such a striking piece of work.
