Visual AIDS

The Visual AIDS Vanguard Awards (VAVA) recognize the achievements and contributions of people who reinforce the culture, history, and mission of Visual AIDS as embodied by arts patrons, arts workers and especially artists themselves. We honor their commitment to AIDS advocacy, education, prevention, and their support of artists with HIV/AIDS. The Bill Olander Award is a VAVA presented to an artist or arts worker living with HIV, and is named in honor of the late New Museum curator and co-founder of Visual AIDS.
