Tseng Kwong Chi

Tseng Kwong Chi's AMBIGUOUS AMBASSADOR. Ninety-five images from the artist's famous Expeditionary Self-Portrait Series has been published by Nazraeli Press with a new essay by Dan Cameron and writings by Richard Martin.

Thomas Somerville was awarded the Heart of MOCHA (Men of Color Health Awareness Project) Award for humanitarian service on Friday, August 12th, 2005.

Male Desire

Male Desire: The Homoerotic in American Art is a fascinating study that examines the history of homoeroticism in American art, surveying how the male body has been portrayed for the last 150 years, from academic style paintings of the 19th century to the conceptual works in the "age of AIDS." Artists include John Dugdale, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Keith Haring, Mark Morrisroe, Patrick Webb, David Wojnarowicz and many others.

Joe Monroe's artwork will be featured in a 2006 calendar produced by Ortho Biochem/Procrit. The calendar features 15 works of art by Monroe representing 25 years of his artist career.

Self-Exposure

Self-Exposure: The Male Nude Self-Portrait features more than 100 works from both established masters and up-and-coming photographers -- many never before published. This groundbreaking collection traces the development of the male self-portrait from its earliest beginnings to the contemporary works. Artists include John Dugdale, Michael Harwood, JD Talasek and many others, complete with brief biographies of each artist.

Brian Crede is co-chair for the upcoming Tom of Finland fundraiser to be held at Charles Cowles Gallery, 537 West 24 Street, New York, NY on Thursday, November 3, 2005. The event will celebrate the recent acquisition of five of Tom of Finland's original drawings to be donated to the Museum of Modern Art permanent collection.

Bob Burnside

Bob Burnside will give workshops teaching the basics of the geometric language geometricks that he has developed at the Cafe at Burning Man, August 29-September 3, from noon-2 pm. All materials will be provided and, like everything else at Burning Man, it's free. Check out other interesting events at www.burningman.com.
