PRIDE PROJECT: AIDS Awareness Campaign Broadsides Postcards

In recognition of Pride Month, Visual AIDS has invited artists Joe De Hoyos and Carrie Moyer to create small works promoting HIV-prevention. The new postcard Broadsides, which peel off and become stickers, will be distributed during the last week of June, 2005. The images will also be available on-line as e-cards. Contact the Visual AIDS office if you would like to help distribute them.

PORNO BINGO Benefiting Visual AIDS

The wonderful Will Clark ( hosted three nights of Porno Bingo to benefit Visual AIDS at the Ninth Avenue Bistro, NYC (March 30, May 25 and June 1, 2005). The three events raised over $800 for Visual AIDS programs. Porn stars, performers and guest callers included Damon DeMarco, Hunter James, Spike, Owen Hawk ( and Edie ( Prizes were donated by Unzipped Video, Channel 1 Releasing, Dark Alley Media and others. Visual AIDS Lightboxes in Texas

The Art Gallery at Houston Community College Central presented LIGHTBOX: A Traveling Exhibition, a project of the Visual AIDS Archive, on its first visit to Texas. The exhibit opened with a reception on March 3 and ran through April 9, 2005. Additionally, on Saturday, April 2, Visual AIDS artist member Michael Golden and a volunteer photographer invited artists living in Texas with HIV/AIDS to bring up to four artworks to the gallery to be photographed for slides documentation, so that they too may join the Archive Project.

Visual AIDS Exhibition at NYU Kimmel Center Thom Markee and TRET at NYU

An exhibition of artwork by Thom Markee and TRET was presented by Visual AIDS and NYU Program Board at the NYU Kimmel Center, 2nd Floor Lounge from March 4 - 25, 2005. The exhibition was very well received and initiated a new dialogue among many NYU students.

In Memory of Mark Carter

We remember Mark Carter, artist, activist and friend. Mark passed away on Saturday, March 19, 2005 of liver and kidney failure. He was 50 years old. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 11, 2 p.m. at Fellowship Baptist Church, 1011 Faile Street, Bronx, N.Y.
