The Soap Factory provides artists with 12,000 square feet of raw gallery space and the freedom to create site-specific projects, large-scale installations, as well as exhibit more traditional work. Our exhibit season runs from May - October, and three exhibits occur during this time. Zero Station in Portland, Maine is seeking artists for the Zero Portfolio, a flatfile and website that will be available to the public and from which will originate group and solo exhibitions. In addition to 900 square feet of exhibition space, Zero Station has on-site framing, a library with artist books and zines for sale, public events (exhibitions, artist talks and video screenings), and will soon be offering digital printing. Artists working in various media will be considered. Work for the files needs to be flat (drawings, etchings, prints, photography) and no more than 36 x 48. The Spencertown Academy Arts Center is a unique arts center with galleries showing contemporary painting, photography, sculpture and multimedia work. The Academy is currently seeking proposals from curators and artists working in all disciplines for exhibitions in the 2006-2007 season. We are seeking work for both general group or solo shows and specifically for two group shows: Looking at Ourselves, options of self portrait in the 21st Century and Botanica. brAIDS is a non-profit organization that has held an annual gala for over eleven years in Jacksonville, Florida, to raise funds to benefit local HIV/AIDS awareness, prevention, education, and support services. brAIDS is an all volunteer group. All profits from the event are distributed directly to local HIV/AIDS organizations. The gala event is attended by several thousand people and generates about $50,000 per year. All donated artwork will be exhibited at the event. The artist may choose to exhibit in the juried or non-juried show. Juried exhibition winning prizes are: 1st Place - $1,000, plus the opportunity to be the featured artist for posters and publicity for the event in 2007, 2nd Place - $500, 3rd Place - $250, three "Honorable Mention" awards with no cash prize. VSA arts of Michigan solicits artwork created by artists with disabilities, young and old, for Enlightenment 2006, this coming year's emerging artists touring exhibition. VSAMI promotes creative power in people with disabilities, and seeks to create a society where people with disabilities participate in, learn through, excel in, and enjoy the arts. VSAMI, a state affiliate of VSA arts in Washington, D.C., has advocated for arts in education and increased opportunities for experiences and training within educational and community programs for persons with disabilities since 1977. VSAMI, founded as a cooperative venture between the Michigan Alliance for Arts Education and the Michigan Department of Education, has expanded to a statewide structure which networks with and provides direct assistance to district organizations. RoCA accepts artist submissions on an on going basis for the Sculpture Park and Gallery One. Gallery ONE consists of 55 linear feet for hanging and is RoCA's venue for one-person exhibits. The Sculpture Park consists of two cleared acres within a 10 acre wooded site. Outdoor sculptors may apply for inclusion in the annual exhibit that runs October through April. X-TRA invites artists to submit original ideas for direct-to-print artworks for publication. Proposals should address the content, context and format of the magazine. The STUDIO is an arts research centre designed to support creation and exploration in the arts, especially interdisciplinary projects that bring together the arts, science, technology and the humanities, and impact local and global communities. At that intersection of art, science and society, STUDIO artists find new creative opportunities, funding and the means to transform society. The STUDIO for Creative Inquiry is currently accepting proposals for projects that do not require full funding by the STUDIO. These proposals should be submitted at least six months in advance of the desired residency period. The Cartier Award 2006 The Cartier Award for an emerging artist is a major new initiative by Frieze Projects.
