Planned Parenthood Western Pennsylvania's Action Fund (PPWPAF) announced its sixth annual fundraiser "Stiff Competition: When Politics Makes For Strange Bedfellows" and issued a call for artists to submit works of art based on the theme. The only requirement for submission is creative interpretation of the theme. The artworks will be featured in an exhibition at The Andy Warhol Museum on June 2, 2004, and auctioned off to raise funds and awareness for PPWPAF. There is no entry fee. The Faerie Show, scheduled for August 2004. LePetit Versailles, a community garden on the Lower East Side, will host an exhibition of visual art, video/film screening, and performance. The show is being curated by Derek Jackson and is based on the idea/theme/history/representation of faeries. All work will be considered. Please keep in mind that the space is outdoors and proposed work should be able to withstand the elements. Also, take into account that security is minimal. The In Practice program supports artists in creating new work for exhibition at SculptureCenter. We invite artists to submit proposals for projects and installations to be presented during the Fall/Winter 2004-2005 exhibition season. All of the lower-level project spaces, the exterior courtyard, the building exterior, the reception area, and stairway are available for In Practice projects. Artists are encouraged to visit SculptureCenter during gallery hours (Thursday-Monday, 11-6). Artists selected for the In Practice program will receive a $250 honoraria and up to $1000 in production support. Work in all media will be considered and artists are encouraged to experiment with the parameters of traditional display and exhibition formats. We are asking artists to put into a visual balance or a visual feeling their concept of the presidency. The president is the body of the nation. Who is this individual who changes every four to eight years? How does that change the image the country has of itself? How does it affect how other countries see us? What can we do to control that power? Is the presidency a symbol more than the person, a portrait of the power of the country? This exhibition is about knowing the rules of government, interpreting them and giving our opinions. Proposals may be for work in any medium. Please submit a narrative (maximum 500 words) describing your project idea; a sketch of the proposed project; a resume; and documentation of your previous work (10-20 slides or images on CD, or a 3 to 5 minute VHS NTSC video or DVD). This show welcomes works by artists working in alternative or archaic photographic processes, on one hand, and in any kind of imaginative transformation of the image on the other. The latter includes digital media photography, montage, collage, staged photography and mixed media, as long as it is predominantly photographic. There will be two first prizes of $500, two second prizes of $250, and two third prizes of $100 one set for winners in the alternative process category and the other for winners in the alternative reality category. You may submit five works for the submission fee of $35, and additional works for $5 each. Works may be submitted either as jpegs on CD-ROM, as slides or as prints, minimum 5x7, preferably at least 8x10 or 8.5x11, but no larger than that. Please indicate how large the exhibition work will be (and if it's an installation). Please provide a return self-addressed stamped envelope if you want the submission materials back. A Benefit Exhibition and Silent Auction of Lesbian Art

In this politically heated climate The Leslie-Lohman Gay Art Foundation (LLGAF) is mounting an exhibition surrounding the subject of marriage. You are invited to create an illuminated proposal for marriage. The proposal can be to a real or imaginary person -- anti-marriage issues can also be addressed. The work from each artist is to consist of a 5" x 7" card containing the proposal and its envelope not to exceed 5.75" x 7.75." The envelope may be embellished, as well. The work should be image driven but can also contain text. The artists approach and imagery may be decorative, erotic, political, social, romantic, satiric, etc. This exhibition will be a highly publicized event highlighting Lesbian Art and showcasing each artist's work to the utmost. All work will be donated to LLGAF and sold via silent auction to benefit the Lesbian Art Purchase Fund. One piece will be selected as "Most Creative of Show," and become a LLGAF editioned postcard. Visual AIDS Artist Materials Grant

Artist Materials Grants are awarded to low-income artists who are in need of financial assistance in obtaining materials for their artwork. Grants applications are biannual in June and December. Next round of grants will be distributed by the end of June 2004. Artist Materials Grants are available to Visual AIDS Archive Members only. To be eligible you must have an active file in the Archive Project, including release forms, contact information, slide, or photo documentation. Grants are issued as gift certificates or store credit for up to $300. Priority in Artist Materials Grants will be given to those who have not received one before. Archive Members are eligible for ONLY one grant per year. The number of Artist Materials Grants issued by Visual AIDS is subject to available funds. Grantees must use their award within six months. Receipts of purchase must be returned to the Visual AIDS office along with a follow-up of material use. Members are not eligible for Artist Materials Grants if receipts from past grants are not returned, or if has the artist has not shown proof of work created with grant materials. Triangle Artists' Workshop

Triangle Artists' Workshop is a bi-annual two-week work session for professional artists from around the world. Neither a colony nor a school, Triangle offers a unique occasion for artists to meet and exchange ideas, not simply through talking, but by making art side by side for a concentrated period in a self-contained location. The provisional dates for the 2004 Triangle Artists' Workshop are October 17-30. Triangle provides housing, food, and a studio in Brooklyn, N.Y. A nominal fee is required as a place holder for each artist; this fee represents only 1/20th of the actual Workshop cost per artist. Artists in need of assistance may also apply for Triangle Grants by writing a letter outlining financial situation.
