JUNE DEADLINES

POINTS OF ENTRY STOREFRONT EXHIBITION, LMCC
Call for Entries: Site-Specific art works
Deadline: June 14, 2002

Individual artists, collaborative groups/collectives, and community-based groups to create site-specific art works for the Lower East Side Tenement Museum's storefront windows, NYC.

The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (LMCC) requests proposals from individual artists, collaborative groups/collectives, and community-based groups to create site-specific art works for the Lower East Side Tenement Museum's storefront windows at 97 Orchard Street. For the 2002-03 season, LMCC and the Museum have partnered to create a series of four three-month long exhibitions that will explore the significance of immigrant communities in New York City and issues around new immigration policies. While interpreting the past, the Tenement Museum also looks to contemporary creative practices to provide insight into today's immigrant experience and the evolving diversity of the Lower East Side.

As the inaugural exhibition in the Points of Entry series, the Museum would like artists who will be commissioned to address themes of immigrant experiences after 9/11. Artists' proposals for Points of Entry should emphasize the link between the past and the present and should be strongly visual, highly conceived and if selected, window installations shall be exceptionally executed.

For more information, contact: www.lmcc.org.

If you need slides of your artwork, and live in the New York area, please contact Visual AIDS for a Slide Request Form. Slide documentation is limited to 20 artworks at a time, but there is no limit to the amount of artwork you may have in the slide registry -- the more complete your file, the better. Also send us updated resumes, invitations, press, Web sites and contact info.
