There is a lot that we don't know about Alin.
Shortly after these photographs were taken, he fell out of touch. Many
times, we have wondered who Alin was, what happened with his life, and if
he is alive at all.
He was photographed for an textbook called "Risky Times" which
was written for adolescents to teach them how to avoid exposure to HIV.
He wanted to help kids to be AIDS smart and stay healthy.
You see, Alin's enthusiasm to be photographed was perhaps one of the
few self-affirming things he had done. He didn't say much that described
himself, yet was clear about his past - full of ridicule and abuse. |
 |
To me, he looks like a soccer player who might have excelled at his sport.
A friend suggested that he was perhaps a student on an exchange program.
Another person thought that he looked like a performer. And yet another
said that he looked sad and homeless.
Alin had full blown AIDS at the time he was photographed.
Try to fill in the pieces of the puzzle of Alin's life.
He would appreciate your concern and friendship.
