Sustiva (Efavirenz, Stocrin)

The Details

Sustiva (efavirenz or EFV) is non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor used to treat HIV/AIDS. It is approved by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of HIV infection in adults and children 3 months of age and older. It is listed in the DHHS HIV treatment guidelines as part of an alternative regimen for people starting HIV treatment for the first time, when taken in combination with Epzicom.


Adult single dose: Take one tablet once daily. Each tablet contains 600 mg.


  • Women who are pregnant or plan to become pregnant should not take Sustiva.
  • Women should not breastfeed while on Sustiva.
