Grassroots Process Across America Honors Outstanding HIV Doctors and Inspiring People With HIV

Patients and Health Professionals in All 50 States Identify the Best in HIV Care

NEW YORK, April 29, 2005 -- What defines HIV/AIDS leadership in America today? In honor of its tenth anniversary of publication,, the online HIV resource used more than any other, decided to find out, and asked its 600,000 monthly visitors to help identify the outstanding women and men who make the difference.

The result, published today at, is a snapshot of the best HIV care from Biloxi to Beverly Hills, from a state prison in Vacaville, Calif. to an Air Force base in Lackland, Texas to a drugstore on the Hawaiian island of Oahu. The complete picture includes all the professionals -- doctors, nurses, prevention and caseworkers -- as well as people with HIV. Following online nominations at, experts judged the candidates and selected truly outstanding leaders. They are honored today with The's HIV Leadership Awards, in conjunction with The's tenth anniversary of publication.

Founded in 1995, is one of the largest and most-used health resources online, serving 600,000 unique visitors each month, and it is dedicated specifically and directly to HIV/AIDS.
