Helen Land, Ph.D.
Throughout her career, Dr. Land has combined clinical practice and academic responsibilities; she has her own private practice, is a volunteer clinician for AIDS Project Los Angeles and the St. Brendan Catholic Church, and does consultant work. She has served as Associate Professor at the University of Southern California, School of Social Work, in Los Angeles since 1989, where she is the chair of the Mental Health Concentration.
Dr. Land has also been principal investigator on several research projects, including studies on HIV interventions among Latinos, and Latina AIDS family caregivers (funded by the National Institute of Mental Health). She is also an investigator for the Women's Interagency HIV Study. She has authored numerous articles on stress, depression and mental well-being among Latinos infected and affected by AIDS, and has written chapters in several texts key to the study of HIV/AIDS social work. Dr. Land has also presented at national and international conferences focusing on HIV/AIDS social work.
