Of the components of Truvada, the one that is most associated with hair loss (at least anecdotally) is the tenofovir. A way of testing if that is the case would be to switch from the tenofivir/FTC combination to the abacavir/3TC combination... Read more »

FTC is quite active against HBV, more so than 3TC. However it is not active against 3TC resistant virus either HIV or HBV. It is given once per day which is an advantage too. It is nearing FDA approval so it is not readily available. You can try the... Read more »
