Hello, On 6/15, I had a high risk exposure with a HIV positive female. I also take Truvada daily for my heptatis B infection daily, and I was wondering if by taking truvada, does it change the 3 months window period?I recently tested negative on 9/1...

Influences on a positive result

Is or are there any particular cases where people have tested positive for the HIV antibodies, yet were not positive? If you were taking medications and had a virus at the time, not HIV, would that have any influence on the test?...

Does exercising influence a HIV test result?

Dear Dr David Wohl, I took a HIV test 8 and a half months after a possible exposure and it came out negative. But before the test, I was exercising for about 10 minutes plus and the duration between the exercise and the test was around 45 minutes....

Hey Doc, I looked into the PCR testing you recommended and it is too expensive for me...I am a college student and the school offers free standard testing and STD screening but not PCR tests. Being the studious kid I am, I went to the school library...

Hi Ben,You are indeed a studious kid. Delayed seroconversion is an extremely rare occurrence and consequently, not well studied. I agree we have no evidence that Truvada would inhibit the production of anti-HIV antibodies.Dr. Bob... Read more »

it would be a good idea to for both sex partners to get tested together for the other
