Combivir totally equivalent to AZT + 3TC?

Is Combivir completely equivalent to taking AZT and 3TC separately? I suppose when taken separately, the proportion could be changed (more of one or the other) whereas the propotion is fixed in Combivir, right? Any other reason why the separate...

No, combivir has been shown in several studies to be comparable to zidovudine and lamivudine dosed seperately.So, if you are taking zidovudine and lamivudine as part of your antiretroviral regimen, it makes sense to take combivir.... Read more »

I am on the regimen of efarinez, ddi and 3tc and was told I'm resistant to 3Tc. This is my first regimen and first resistance test. Can I just switch the 3tc to tenofovir?? What is commonly done in this situation?...
