What you are describing is quite likely a condition that is called post-herpetic neuropathy that involves ongoing nerve irritation for the nerve coming out of the spinal cord that was involved with the rash you described. Even if the rash clears a... Read more »

One issue about your situation is whether you simply have itching from where the rash was versus post-herpetic nerve irritation (that can occur after shingles). Itching can often be relieved by topical steriods (ie cortisone), antihistamines, or... Read more »
