Frequently people (both HIV+ and HIV-) will have persistent pain after an attack of shingles. he medical term for it is "post-herpetic neuralgia". If it doesn't resolve fast enough on its own, you can ask your doctor for medicine... Read more »

Unless you previously had an episode of shingles (herpes zoster) in that same region (which can cause persistent nerve irritation) it is extremely unlikely, in the absense of any blisters, that herpes zoster is the cause of your discomfort.Three... Read more »
