T minus 12 and counting....

Well, I'm on the countdown. Twelve days until I begin the meds. I got my latest VL today and it was 76,000. That's down from 87,500 three weeks earlier but I know in reality that is no change. All of that is down from 144,000 on my first measure... Read more »

I'm starting in a study, and I just got my meds today. I'll be on Reyataz boosted with Norvir, and either Epzicom or Truvada (I won't know which).

Does anyone know if there are any advantages to taking these meds in the morning as opposed to the... Read more »

Reyataz/Truvada vs. Reyataz/Combivir

My partner and I are both about to embark on starting meds. We both were diagnosed as HIV + as of Nov 4, 2004. His doctor is prescribing Reyataz/Norvir/Combivir. My doctor is presribing Reyataz/Norvir/Truvada. We both have the same resistence...

The best way to use Reyataz is not yet clear. There is no question that this agent represents a significant advance in the protease inhibitor class. It has fewer metabolic side effects, is dosed once a day, and is quite potent when boosted by... Read more »

Reyataz or Reyataz/Norvir

I tested positive in July of this year. My initial CD4 was 249, 4 wks later 279, 4 weeks later 219, 2 weeks later 205. My VL was 102,000; 238; and undetectable the last two times. I started Atripla the first week in August. My current physician...

I would go back to your doctor and ask why he or she thinks that a change in your medication is needed at this time. It is quite possible that there is important information that you have not included in your email, so I will make some observations... Read more »

GERD and Reyataz, what to do?

Hi - I asked some time ago about prilosec with reyataz, and chose to keep reyataz versus prilosec. . . Well, my acid reflux is back and Pepcid AC is not working! Is Ranitidine okay? I have been on Reyataz for 2 weeks, and I am trying not to wimp out...

Hello, and thanks for posting. Pepcid AC contains 10mg of famotidine. Studies have shown that 40mg of famotidine can be administered with reyataz (either 20mg twice daily or 40mg taken once daily at a separate time). If this full dose of Pepcid is... Read more »

Epzicom vs. Truvada with Boosted Reyataz

Because the Viread in Truvada reduces the level of Reyataz in the bloodstream, could it be better to take Epzicom with Reyataz (provided one has had the HLA-B test and is not hypersensitive to Ziagen)? It seems that even with boosted Reyataz, the...

Thanks for your post. You raise some very cogent points about drug interactions. There aren't any fully powered studies that address this issue. Because of this, the relevancy of the reduction of atazanavir (Reyataz) levels with tenofovir... Read more »
