My VDRL came out +ve with 1:16 titre and TPHA was +ve while HIV came out -ve in week 5. Doctor confirmed it as syphilis and gave me my first penicillin jab and some medication to be taken for two weeks.

Possibly, but unlikely itchy. Depending on the stage of disease, organisms could be present in skin and therefore seen by biopsy and spread by contact. It is theoritically possible that syphilis could be spread by needlestick because it can be... Read more »

The lesion you describe is not classic for syphilis, which typically first causes a painless ulcer. Therefore, I would say the risk that this is syphilis is really low but given the rash and lymph node swelling later on, it is worth getting tested.... Read more »
