Tough to comment on without being able to observe the lesions. Too bad you don't have a more user friendly (with better bedside manner) skin doc--that is what is needed most. I assume that your clotting factors and platelet count is OK.... Read more »

Pimples, acne blemishes or what

Dr. Bruce Dezube I have been HIV+ that I know of for eight years. Within the past year and a half I have started getting pimples, acne blemishes on my forehead and nick. I've ask my doctor about them and he tells me that it apart of the disease...

Acne is quite common in HIV disease. I personally give my patients a month of Cefadroxil one tablet daily, which is often extremely effective. I'm not sure about the prednisone. Prednisone can actually cause acne. Did your doctor perhaps think... Read more »

Since being diagnosed positive in 1998, I have had high t cell counts and low viral load without the need of meds. In the past few months however, I have felt somewhat ill - I lost a bunch of weight and there is a sudden outbreak of odd blemishes...
