Flu Epidemic

91,871 people in the U.S. died last year from the flu. I think AIDS deaths were in the area of 16,000. Since there were more than 5.6x the amount of deaths due to the flu (also a virus), shouldn't we see the CDC calling this an epidemic? Why...
