What is the difference between Pegsys and Peg Intron

Hi Doctor Dieterich: Is it true that Pegintron and Pegsys are the same! I was told by my doctor that they are exactly the same except one is made in the US and one made in Swiss. Are there any difference?Thank you sir for your time.

They are pretty close. Pegasys has a longer half life of about 75 hours, versus 54 hours for Peg Intron. Pegasys is excreted mostly in the liver while Peg Intron mostly in the kidney. The overall success rates for the two are almost exactly the same... Read more »

I started meds because my vl was too high 100,000 and cd4 dropped to below 500. I don't have any physical issues with meds but I is more emotional. It's a twice daily reminder of it(HIV) that before I could forget about it for a while. Read more »
