What's the difference between PCR RNA and PCR DNA and when would one use one rather than the other? Also, is it preferable to use plasma or serum to conduct the tests or does it matter? Thanks......

I just got a negative on a 27 day DNA PCR. I actually thought it was the 28th day - but later calculated it to be the 27th day (darn February!)

Quantitative PCR RNA is the viral load test for HIV-1 only, right ?
For Qualitative PCR DNA for HIV-1 and HIV-2, the report format would be 'detectable' or 'not detectable', right ?..or/and would 'strain' of the hiv founded would be reported ?
