Peripheral neuropathy, whether it's pain or tingling in the feet or hands, is VERY common and can be caused by many many diseases. It would be most unusual for this to be the first symptoms of HIV. I would highly suggest you get HIV-tested.... Read more »

Do symptoms of peripheral neuropathy occur at the same times on both legs? I'm experience some pain on the bottom of my feet and numbness near the ankle. But they happens at different locations and times. Is this PN? Thank you!...

Most of the time HIV-related or HIV drug related peripheral neuropathy tends to involve both feet and starts with the toes and bottoms of feet before involving the ankles. KH... Read more »

Your symptoms could well be due to the stavudine (D4T)in the Triomune. You need to discuss with your HIV provider to see of the dose of D4T could be decreased (Triomune-30) or can the D4T be switched to AZT, tenofovir, or abacavir in your region (?... Read more »

It sounds like he is getting fairly good care and has a challenging situation which is often frustrating. If he is on an HIV or other med that aggravates neuropathy then strong consideration should be given to switch off that medicine if possible.... Read more »
